Earlier this week our students were helping spruce up some of our flower beds in front of our school. While pulling up some weeds there sure were A LOT of roots. What a great “teachable” moment as they say. The students returned back to the YIT School Farm, and began discussing the different root systems. Rhizomes, bulbs, tubers, corms, and tuberous roots. Do you know the difference between them? I sure didn’t!

A+ work if you ask me!
Next time you pull up a weed, see if you can identify what type of roots you are looking at – or just ask one of our students!
